Casa Bonay - Barcelona

Casa+Bonay.jpg

Created out of a beautifully restored 19th century mansion Casa Bonay is all about authenticity and creativity. A place brought to life by a group of young creatives connecting locals and tourists in the many vibrant public spaces of the Casa. Whether its to eat, drink, sleep or socialize, Casa Bonay should be on anyone’s Barcelona to-do list and here is why.

Those creatives are local entrepreneurs who each leave their mark on Casa Bonay. From baristas and coffee roasters to chefs, clothing designers, landscapers, mixologists and hotel professionals. The result: a vibrant city hotel where sleeping almost seems to be side business. Because behind the facade of this monumental mansion in the heart of Barcelona you will find too much to tick off in one weekend. From all day restaurant and social club Libertine to Satan's coffee bar, an independent bookshop, Asian restaurant Elephant, Crocodile, Monkey and the tropical beach hut meets cocktail bar Chiringuito at the rooftop. Down at Platja del Somorrostro guests of Casa Bonay have free SUP equipment available at the sailing club of Pati de Vela.

Expect some locals nods in the rooms as well. All 67 come with high windows and ceilings offering lots of natural light and furnished with work of Catalan origin. The bathrooms are equipped with organic products from Las Lilas and the furniture is from Barcelona-based designer brand AOO. Expect a comfortable bed, a well stocked mini-bar, yoga mats, views of the Gran Via or the courtyard and floors with original mosaic tiles. The best place to rest your feet after a long day of gallivanting through L'Eixample.
Correction: the best place might actually be the rooftop. A tropical situation with lounge chairs, hammocks, magnificent city views, cocktail service and an outdoor shower. Sigh.

Rooms from EUR 110 per night excl. breakfast (buffet & a la carte at Libertine at EUR 18 per person. Not cheap, but worth every euro).
