Cabane Bambou - Ramatuelle (Côte d’Azur)

Dusty range rovers parked out back, shiny yachts anchored out front. We’ve had our shot of Riviera glam at Cabane Bambou, right on idyllic Plage de Pampelonne. This stretch of beach just south of St Tropez is beautiful as ever. No buildings or boulevards, just the glinstering Med bordered by pine forests and some dozens of beach restaurants tucked in between.

Coming fresh out of a renovation the tastefully designed Cabane Bambou restaurants lies hidden in between sand dunes, bamboo bushes and pine trees. Even though its in one of the fanciest parts of the French Riviera, the vibe at Cabane Bambou is surprisingly laid back and friendly. It’s a barefoot in the sand kind of place, where wine drenched lunches are served under gentle fluttering shade cloths. On the menu Mediterranean influenced dishes like burrata, langoustine tartare and a good selection of seafood dishes (yes to the Tuna Click-Clack!). Richly filled glasses of wine are 7 euro’s each - a bargain given you’re on the Côte. Come evening the menu goes Izakaya-style blending Mediterranean classics with Japanese flavors.

There is a small boutique too, selling beach wear and good looking coffee table books. The beach shack with lounge mattresses and fringed umbrellas is just 50 meters from the restaurant and is the perfect place to bulge out. Planning to visit Cabane Bambou in July or August? Make sure to reserve spot: both the restaurant as the beach beds get booked out in advance.
